1. About Bhutan Airlines



Tashi Air is now known by the name Bhutan Airlines. Bhutan Airlines was founded in 2011 as Tashi Air. It operated for six months prior to being shut down. In October of 2013 the company, which was previously called Tashi Air, resumed operations and was renamed Bhutan Airlines.

The Tashi Group owns Tashi Air and Bhutan Airlines. Dasho Urji founded it in 1959.

Bhutan Airlines operates its own schedule of flights that depart from Thimphu, Bhutan. It operates regular flights to India as well as Thailand in addition to Nepal.

Paro Airport

Paro Airport is among the four airports in Bhutan which offer international flights. International flights cannot be taken off or land at this airport because of its stunning location within the Paro Chhu valley and the surrounding mountains.

It was an airport that was tiny when it was constructed in 1968. The airport was expanded and upgraded in the year of 1990. In 1999 the terminal building was constructed.

 

5. Bhutan Airlines Check-in & Boarding Pass


Online Check-In

Bhutan Airlines does not yet offer online check-in.

Check in at the airport

Bhutan Airlines passengers must check in at the Airport prior to departure. The airline suggests that passengers arrive at the airport no more than two hours prior to departure.

Check-in hours are open until 3 hours before departure. The desks will be closed 45 minutes before departure.

a. Baggage Policy and Fees


Carry-on Baggage

Bhutan Airlines requires that carry-on baggage should not be larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm or weigh more than 7 kg.

It is possible to carry personal belongings in your bag that you carry on the plane, such as a briefcase or laptop case.

Checked Baggage

Bhutan Airlines allows checked baggage, depending on the flight route and the class of the ticket.

For the majority of flights Business Class can carry 40 kg. Premium Economy and Economy only carry 30 kg.

This restriction does not apply for passengers flying to Gaya - Paro. This flight requires bags that are checked in not exceed the weight of 30 kg for Business Class as well as under 20 kg for Economy and Premium Class.

Baggage overage

Bhutan Airlines will charge baggage that exceeds the weight limit or in dimensions.

 

b. Pet Policy


  • Properly crated pets such as cats, dogs or birds of the household are allowed to travel provided they are able to enter the country with valid entry permits and proofs of their health, and are properly registered.
  • In the case of baggage, the animal along with the container it's in or food items cannot travel. It will be considered an excess baggage item and the passengers will be obliged to pay any applicable fees.
  • Guide dogs that accompany passengers who are visually impaired or blind are bound by the Carrier's Rules.
  • The prerequisite for acceptance of animal transportation is that the pet's owner is responsible for the entire animal. The person who transports the animal is not responsible for any injuries, loss or delay, loss or delay, illness or death that may happen to the animal or if it is refused access to or travel across any state or country.

 

c. Refund and Cancellation Policy

Druk Air Ticket Cancellation Policy:
A 90% refund is available for cancellations that are that are made within 35 days of date of departure.
Cancellations that are made between 15 and 35 calendar days before the travel date are reimbursed up to 75%..
50% Refund is allowed for tickets cancelled between 08-14 days from the date of travel.
Cancellations made less than 8 days prior to the event date are non-refundable
Tickets that have been changed or been penalized are not refundable.

Tickets that are not shown on the day of the event are not valid for a refund. Tickets
Sector changes are not refundable however, any difference in the fare will be compensated
